This article explains how MAS9 handles Initial Payments, registration fees, and autopay scheduling when creating or assigning memberships.
1. When a Student Registers Through the Intake Form
When a student signs up using the Intake Form:
•MAS9 charges the Initial Payment immediately
•The first autopay is scheduled one month after the membership start date
You do not need to adjust anything manually.
2. When Adding a Membership Manually
You can choose how the Initial Payment works:
Option A — Charge Registration Fee + First Month Upfront
Example:
•Registration Fee: $89
•Tuition: $199
•Initial Payment: $288
The first autopay will be scheduled for the following month.
Option B — Charge Registration Fee Only
If Initial Payment = $89:
•$89 is charged immediately
•The first autopay can be set to begin on the same date as the initial charge
This is used when you want billing to start right away.
3. How Registration Fees Behave with Auto-Renew
If a membership has:
•Initial Payment entered, and
•Auto-Renew enabled
4. Trial Memberships That Auto-Renew
If a trial auto-renews:
•The registration fee will be charged only if the regular membership has an Initial Payment amount
•If you do not want a registration fee after the trial → leave the Initial Payment field empty
