Why Emails May Go to Spam When Using a Gmail Address
Recently, Gmail has increased its spam-filtering rules, and many businesses are experiencing issues with email delivery. If your school uses a Gmail address (example: moohan@gmail.com) as the sender inside MAS9, Gmail often marks those messages as spam. This happens because Gmail cannot fully authenticate emails that are sent from outside of Gmail’s own system using a Gmail address.
Domain Email vs. Gmail
When MAS9 sends emails using your domain email (example: info@yourdomain.com), the delivery rate is much higher because MAS9 can authenticate the message properly. This helps Gmail trust the email and prevents it from going to the spam folder. For the best email delivery, we strongly recommend using a domain-based email for your school instead of a Gmail address.
Temporary Fixes for Students
Until your domain email is ready, students can improve deliverability by:
Moving your email from Spam to Primary
Adding your school email address to their Contacts
This helps Gmail recognize your messages as safe and important.
Need a Domain Email?
If MAS9 is building your school’s website, we can also help you set up a domain email (example: info@yourdomain.com) so your messages are delivered more reliably. Please contact us if you would like assistance with this setup.
